Off With The Old | On With The New

The Holy Bible can be very intimidating, which is one of the reason why I have yet to finish it. Although I have read the smithboys Little Boys Bible Story Book that smithboy#2 Godmother bought him, I still don’t quite understand each message through an adults perspective. Therefore one of my new year resolutions was to reread the entire bible. I am currently 42 days ahead of schedule and yes I just flipped my hair while you thought to yourself “oh wow!”. I’m also pleased to inform you getting ahead was very easy. I press play every morning on the Bible App for The One Year Bible Plan to reach my goal of completing the book. The plan goes through different chapters one day at a time. The app will also send you reminders each day so even on my busiest days I am still able to read the chapters that are selected. Like I said easy, but I’m not here to share the ends and outs of the app. I am here to dissect the word of God that has enlightened me as well  taught me a lesson about my faith. The Bible states, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” (Proverbs 3:5-6) Unexplained things happen to us and others around us. We often times don’t have the answers to all the questions but I have learned to honestly let go and let God. Sounds a bit alarming but I promise you once you accept Him and walk a humble life you will then begin to understand his challenges and gifts he has for each of us. For His plan for each of us was made way before our time. Like Ephesians 2:10 reads “We are God’s masterpieces. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Which brings me to my recent discovery in the Book of Ephesians. Although my church dedicated the past two months on reading Ephesians, it has also come across in my daily reading. Going through the book with my Pastor as well as in the morning by myself, I have unveiled something pretty remarkable about my spiritual journey. I want to first share that I have not always walked a humble and righteous life. I have sinned, and I have doubted the work of the Lord. I have hurt others just as others hurt me. I am NOT in any way shape of form perfect. BUT I have realized while reading the bible and listening to my Pastor preach the word of God, that the Lord does not look for perfect people. He looks for the broken, weak, the suffering, and the lost. Sad to say but that is exactly where he found me. I wont go into detail what brought me to Jesus Christ because you can read that in Power of Believing but I will tell you what was been revealed to me in the Book of Ephesians. & That is God has given me a blueprint on how to live a faithful life. He has given me gifts so I can be an example of Him. He has given me a glorious new beginning so that I can be allowed to take off all the old and put on the new. WHY? Because God has all the power in the world to transform. He gives not just me but all of us unbound love, strength, grace, guidance among other incredible things. We might be at different points in our life with our own understanding of the word of God but one thing is made crystal clear… We are all considered the children of the man above. Matthew 5:8-9 affirms “God blesses those who hearts are pure, for they will see God. God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.” Like I said before he knew my journey before I walked this earth. He knew my heart would find him, and to finally take off the old and put on the new was a phenomenal feeling. The book of Ephesians not only justified my growth this past year but has also opened my eyes to my spiritual journey. For myself and my close friends and family too actually see how much I have come all because of HIM is something I will be beyond grateful for. The more I dig deeper into my Bible, worship his name every Sunday, the more lessons I will learn within. Because Luke 11:9-10 proclaims, “keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, recives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knows, the door will be opened.”

Word of God

February 25, 2018 | 1 King 19 | Two Lies

Two lies that ruin our lives.

1. ______ can never change. (Given up)

2. I can’t live with this. (Lost Hope)

Elijah’s story:

• Past miracles don’t ensure present faith.

• Desperation can lead us back to God’s perspective. Let me take you on a journey about the past to bring you hope for the future.

Our Story:

•We hope when we rediscover God’s power. When we start doubting God we need to go to the empty tomb. If God has the power to raise Jesus from the dead he has the power to give us the strength we need to defeat our enemies.

• We grow in times of waiting and watching. God uses patience to help us with our transformation.

• We participate as we engage God’s resource. Participate in small groups, so you have a group of people to help you grow, who believe in faith and believe in you. So you’re not sitting on the curb waiting for Satan.

There are so many resources out there for you to connect and have a relationship with God. There is absolutely no better time than to connect with the Lord than RIGHT NOW!
